Hi! We're the Carlmont Transportation Club (CTC), and our main goals are to improve all modes of transportation to and around Carlmont High School and to make it easier for students to choose greener and more equitable methods of transportation. There's never been a better time to try walking, biking, or taking the bus to school!

CTC is a founding member of the California High School Transit Alliance!

Ongoing Projects!

El Camino Real

SamTrans, San Carlos, Belmont, Redwood City, San Mateo, and the California Department of Transportation are currently redesigning the street to potentially widen sidewalks, add bus and bike infrastructure, etc.

None of the options are great (they’re making people choose between better bike infrastructure and better bus infrastructure while still having 17-foot-wide medians and such - yes, I’ve let them know I’m upset about this), but it would still be helpful if you took the survey (also QR code to the left) to share your input :)

If you really want to email somebody about the fact that the medians are egregiously wide to accommodate left turn lanes or that parking is still being considered as an option when it could go one block away, or that there is a two-lane-per-direction minimum, you can email grandboulevard@samtrans.com, board@samtrans.com, and 82CorridorPlan@dot.ca.gov.

Wayfinding Pilot

The Transportation Club and the California High School Transit Alliance (CalHSTA) are testing signage at SamTrans bus stops near Carlmont High. If you spot one of these signs in the wild, scan the QR code and tell us what you think!

Bicycle Advocacy

Have something to say about bike infrastructure in Belmont or San Carlos? We'd love to get your feedback and redirect it to local government. Currently, we're in the process of advocating for bike lanes along Crestview Drive (in addition to various other improvements) and Brittan Avenue in San Carlos.
